I’ve been lost in a blizzard of paint for the last four days as I spent almost every waking moment either scraping, spackling or painting our home library. The weekend before had seen Sue and I attacking the living room, and now after two weekends of solid work, the rooms are 90% done — all that’s left is the trim. And I’ve got to say folks … it looks kick ass. The blonde/mannered gold color scheme we picked out complements the floors and furniture perfectly. The whole house feels warmer and more home-like than ever before.
Next up we need to concentrate on buying some new area rugs for the foyer, living room and library, while keeping an eye out for a rug in the dining room. While we’re doing that we’ll be looking for art prints for the foyer wall (but more on that later this week) and lining up someone to strip and re-seal the wood floors.
And then there will be that one last paint job: the big wall in the foyer. We’re not sure on the color yet — painting it blonde would make the downstairs a bit too yellow, so we’re thinking of going with some shade of blue, or something that complements the prints we’ll be choosing.
